Become a Resource for Students and Their Families

Students And Families Need Help

According to a recent Credit Karma survey, one in four borrowers will defer buying a house or getting married in order to work on paying down student loan debt. Why not position your organization as a resource for students and their families to find funding options for college? What better way to say “we care” than to provide resources to keep students out of debt (or at least keep it manageable)?

Helpful Resources You Can Offer

If your organization offers scholarships, now is the time to get the word out and get those applications distributed. If your organization offers student loans, why not host a workshop or webinar that will educate them on how student loans work? BALANCE offers a number of workshop materials and webinars dedicated to student loans. And let’s not forget about the FAFSA – the starting point for most college funding. We offer workshops and webinars on how the FAFSA works too. Getting families educated on all the options while their student is still in high school (or even earlier) can help build loyalty with your organization.

Keep The Conversation Going

While fall is a great time to start talking about funding college, it’s a topic families think about year-round. Keep the conversation going so that when the time comes, students look to YOUR organization as their first point of contact and one-stop-shop for information.
