Get Your Staff On Board!

At BALANCE, partners often ask us for the best way to market their financial education program to their members, customers, and clients. We love sharing this information because it’s a win-win for everyone. The more your staff and audience(s) know about financial education and the resources we offer, the more engaged everyone becomes. When your customers reach their financial goals, they will credit YOUR organization as one who helped provide the resources needed to achieve those goals.

Your front-line employees — those who deal with your customers daily — are the most important people in your organization to share the benefits of your financial education program.

Several of our partners integrate BALANCE into their New Hire training. They participate in several self-directed BalanceTrack modules. As a result, they not only get a glimpse of what is available to customers, but they also learn valuable information on personal finance that will help them be more productive employees, increasing job satisfaction and retention. And we know today’s unprecedented labor market calls on all employers to find ways to attract and retain top talent.

Tinker Federal Credit Union (Oklahoma City, OK) has one of the highest usages of Balance Track among our partners, partly because their employees are required to take and pass Balance Track modules as part of their overall training. Heather Kay, VP/Manager, Financial Empowerment, said, “When new employees join the TFCU team, they are asked to complete ten specific BalanceTrack modules. We use this resource to increase their personal financial knowledge and to showcase a valuable online resource available to all members.”

Here are some ways to keep your staff engaged with BALANCE:

  • If you have BalanceTrack modules on your Private Label website, offer your staff a small incentive or prize for completing several modules (we suggest 5-7).
  • Include Balance Track modules as part of your New Hire Onboarding process.
  • Offer a small incentive/prize to staff for referring members to BALANCE. As one partner candidly noted, “I cannot control whether the member calls BALANCE or not. What matters to me is that our staff is talking to members about it regularly.”
  • Forward BALANCE webinar emails to staff when you receive them. Make webinar recordings available for staff to listen to during the day or on their own time.
  • Have your version of our “Webinar for the Win”! Each time an employee listens to a recorded webinar or attends one of our live ones, have them notify HR where they can get their name in a drawing for a small prize or gift card. Hold drawings monthly or quarterly.
